Blue Hydrangea Tea
The Blue Hydrangea Tea, which will be held on April 28, 2019, is hosted by LaGrange Kentucky Main Street merchants. More than 20 participating shops and businesses offer samples of special teas and treats, with each business providing at least one door prize. Each attendee chooses a keepsake teacup and receives a goodie bag, including information about OAK. The tea generally raises around $5,000 to support OAK.
A Slice of Life
A Slice of Life is an annual fundraising event held at The Kentucky Derby Museum. This event includes a silent auction and various vendors offering samples of food and beverages. This special event typically raises more than $6,000 to support OAK’s mission.
OAK Golf Scramble
The annual OAK Golf Scramble is held at the Polo Fields golf course. This outing is a winner in raising more than $6,000 to support OAK.
Whisper Walk is an annual 5K walk held in the community of Douglass Hills that draws in crowds of people all walking individually or in teams to support women battling gynaecological cancers. The Whisper Walk was started by Frank and Sean Edwards in 2009 in memory of Dee Edwards, a young mom and science teacher at Crosby Middle School. The walk generally raises around $4,000 to support OAK’s local programs.
Toast to Life
The Toast to Life is an annual brunch to celebrate survivors of ovarian cancer. The brunch features a guest speaker presenting the latest research on ovarian cancer. Survivors receive special gift bags, gift cards for pampering, flower bouquets, lots of hugs, support and inspiration. OAK presented a check for $10,000 to the Ovarian Cancer Screening Program at University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center.
